Dungeon Village is a town management game, where the player recruits adventurers to fight monsters trying to destroy the town. You must make sure that your town grows and prospers despite these monster attacks, as well as strengthening the adventurers so that they can continue to protect your town.
Gameplay
Adventurers act on their own, fighting monsters for a set amount of time (the amount of time dependent on their "work"), and then visit the town after to visit stores and (if they have one) their house. They become more powerful as they level up, change jobs, are given items (by you) or through Events. If adventurers are defeated, they fall unconscious for an amount of time, or until another Adventurer brings them to an Inn, which greatly increases the recovery speed.
Through Events, clearing dungeons, raising effectiveness of a building past a certain point, and other occurrences, your town starts to gain popularity. Through popularity you gain new adventurers, new events, new monsters, and medals for your adventurers (which can be used at the end of each year to greatly affect their Satisfaction and Work).
As you fight monsters, you gain experience, gold (), and also increase the amount of Town Points you get each month. These points are used to host events, unlock new structures, and also change an adventurer's job. You will also be prompted every so often to fight a boss monster. While a boss monster rampages around your town, your town loses popularity, so it is advised to kill it as fast as possible. Once a boss is killed, you are awarded a sizable amount of money and Town Points.
Quests (of which boss monsters are one) are the primary way for your adventurers to obtain items and unlock new equipment. Whether on the field or in a dungeon, Red chests contain consumable items, while Blue chests contain equipment that once contained unlock the ability to buy it. While this has potential to earn items, weapons, and even some experience, exploring a dungeon can take up time, and while in a dungeon explorers do not gain money for your village or spend any in town.
Consumable items can be either used on a single adventurer for different advantages (such as stat increases), on a building to raise their effects, or put into the Cauldron. The Cauldron is the only way to obtain certain items, weapons, and even buildings.
Adventurers
There are up to 25 adventurers you can have in your village, each able to wield weapons/armor and switch jobs. If you level an adventurer all the way up, their job is opened up for others to use as well. If an adventurer moves in, you also get a special reward depending on the adventurer.
Adventurers / residents are responsible for the protection of your town. However, as they are in fact employed by you, it is up to you to guide them on quests, arm them properly with armor and weapons, keep them happy, and train them properly. You can also assign jobs to your adventures.
While adventurers require your attention, they are quite self-efficient. When not on a quest, they will wander the field killing monsters, will occasionally buy themselves new weapons / armor with their salary, will bring their injured comrades back to the inn to rest, and even shop.
When you send your adventurers on a quest, adventures in your town will randomly be chosen to participate, with a possible total of 9 adventures allowed to join. However, if 9 adventurers do not volunteer, you can recruit more up to 9 at the expense of gold. More of quests can be found here.
Combat
Attacks take into account many factors, such as attack style, weapon/armor strength, the enemy level, whether it is a dungeon, whether it is a boss monster, and possibly most importantly your stats.
Attack styles are: melee, ranged, and magic.
Attributes
These are effected by your armor, weapons, and accessories.
Attributes include:
- HP
- Attack
- Defense
- Magic
- Basic Attributes
These are raised as you level, master jobs, and switch jobs.
Basic attributes include: Health (Hth) Strength (Str) Dexterity (Dex) Toughness (Tgh) Spirit (Sprt) Luck (Luck) Magic
All magic uses a unique sprite when cast.
Fire Magic - Deals damage.
Ice Magic - Deals damage like Fire Magic.
Lightning Magic - Deals damage like Fire Magic.
Healing Magic - Allows an adventurer to heal another adventurer if they are within range. Works on fallen comrades.
Satisfaction Work
Satisfaction and Work are two non-combat attributes of an adventurer. These can both be raised by giving gifts (some satisfaction and work only slightly if at all) and by awarding medals (10 work and satisfaction). Satisfaction can also be raised by visiting high-quality facilities.Work - How long your residents stay out on the field, allowing them to kill more monsters. It also increases the odds of obtaining an aura.Satisfaction - Required to have an adventurer move into your village.
Income
Adventures both earn you money and cost you money, but often earning you money if you play wisely.
Makes you money:
- Killing Monsters (Adventurer's Income)
- Finding Chests
- Taxes (Based on total monsters killed)
- Adventure's salary
- Going on quests
- Auras
Auras boost Attack, the number of attacks, and Defense.
Visiting your village
An adventurer will visit / arrive at your town and fight monsters once your town reaches a specific level of popularity (see table below). After they visit, you can have them move in by raising their satisfaction.
Having new adventurers visit is important because:
- To unlock new job types you must first max out an adventurer with thatjobs, and having new adventurers visit is the only way to accomplish this.
- More people equals more money
- More man power for fighting monsters
- Once an adventurer visits and they reach a certain level of satisfaction, they will ask to move in (see below).
For an adventurer to move into town and become a resident, a few conditions must be met:
You must have a vacant house (if you don't have one, they will ask you to place one) (costs 100G).
They must have a high enough satisfaction level (see table below).
You must pay specific cost to allow them to move in (see table below).
After moving in, they will gain 5 (Satisfaction) and 15 Work and they will give you a gift (see table below).
It is worth noting that even after getting enough satisfaction, they may not ask to move in right away. Adventurers nearly never ask to move in when they are on a quest. They should ask shortly after it is finished, however.

Jobs
There are a large variety of jobs that your adventurers can take up, which can affect not only the stat growth of the adventurer, but also in some cases the prices of the stores in your village.
Jobs are responsible for how adventurers level up, as well as being one of the ways to unlock magic attacks. Jobs also affect what type of attacks adventurers use most often, even if they have more than one attack type open to them, such at melee and magic. Finally jobs provide stat bonuses (or penalties) in the form of a percentage increase (or decrease) from the base stats. A character of class "Adventurer" has only his base stats and no bonuses.
Each time an adventurer gains a level, he gains a permanent attribute boost (additional HP, attack, defense, or spirit). After an adventurers masters a job (raises it to level 10), they receive a permanent stat boost, and if they were the first in your village to have the job (and were not one of your original party), they will then unlock that job to be available to other adventurers. However, higher level jobs require more medals () to have been earned and more town points () for adventurers to switch to them. Higher level jobs also come with a higher level salary, which does not go away even when an adventurer moves into a house.
All unlocked jobs are carried over to a new game once you "finish" your current one. However, the medal requirement to switch to them still remains.
Changing Jobs
To change a character's job, first select a character. Next, scroll down to the 2nd screen (where it shows 6 stats). Now click the "Change job" button in the bottom middle of the window, and there you go! Note that some jobs require a certain number of medals.
List of Jobs
To unlock a job type, you must first train an adventurer with that job to level 10 (job mastery). New adventurers who visit your village often have unique jobs, which can be found on the adventurers page.
AT is the Attack Type. If given a choice, this method of attack is almost always used. SP is the sales price. The gender listed is the one required for an adventurer to use that job.

Equipment
Equipment raises your adventurer's primary stats: HP, Attack, Defense, & Magic.
Equipment can be found/Acquired on the field / in dungeons (in Blue Chests), through using the Cauldron, or obtained from adventurers when they move in (although not a recommended way to obtain them them, as they will not be unlocked for other adventurers to use).
Weapons
The only equipment to increase Attack / Magic stats.

Shields
Shields focus more on providing Defense than HP, which allows you to take less over-all damage, and is most useful on units with a higher HP supply available.
Accessories
Compared to other equipment, accessories are the most expensive with some of the lowest stats. As such, they should not be a primary concern over other armors.
